Eye On The Prize

Looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God. – Hebrews 12:2

Do you ever see the immense suffering in the world and wonder how you could ever endure such things yourself? Or, perhaps you are facing the hardest time of your life right now, and you wonder how you will ever make it through. Jesus shows us the way to get through even the worst of circumstances. He endured physical pain, shame, and spiritual separation from God. He accomplished all this not just by having internal strength, but by keeping His eyes fixed on the reward at the end. This verse says, “for the sake of the joy that was set before him” He was able to endure. Pain is much easier to bear when we have a goal in mind or an end in sight. Remember we are to persevere until the end and through our sufferings. There is an end to it all, it won’t last forever, everything happens for a reason, and in God’s appointed time. Jesus and heaven are waiting!
