Citizens of Heaven

“But our citizenship is in heaven, and it is from there we are expecting a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He will transform the body of our humiliation that it may be conformed to the body of His glory, by the power that also enables Him to make all things subject to Himself.” – Philippians 3:20-21

I recently attended a funeral service in honor of my brother-in-law who passed away. Our local pastor reminded us that the service was more than honoring our departed brother in Christ or grieving his loss, but a celebration of his life and the way he lived it as a Believer. Physical death stings but we know it’s only temporary. Jesus triumphed over it on Calvary. We don’t belong to this world because, in Him, our citizenship is in heaven. Someday we will again meet our departed friends and loved ones in our new and glorified bodies (1 Corinthians 15:42-53). But for now, let us keep on moving forward as our Savior awaits.
