Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God – what is good and acceptable and perfect, – Romans 12:2
While growing up I was told not to say anything if I didn’t have anything nice to say. However, I would still sometimes think bad thoughts about others. Later in life, I learned that this too should be avoided.
Paul says to renew your mind, but how in the world do I do that, especially in today’s world? I have noticed when I slack off on quiet or prayer time with God, I am tempted by worldly things.
My clarity and focus on always doing the right thing begins to wane. However, when I renew my mind each morning with God’s Word, promises, and redemption, I notice that the day-to-day difficulties that life brings are easier to overcome and my focus on living my life according to God’s word remains strong.
