I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart. – Psalm 40:8
David expressed his delight in doing the will of God. That is why David was called “the man after God’s own heart.” David’s heart was perfectly aligned with God’s will. For David, doing the will of God was not a burden or an obligation, but was his delight. The verse says that God’s law was within his heart which is why it was very easy for him to obey God’s commands. This reminds us that nothing God commands of us is too hard to obey and do if you desire to do it. Often it is difficult to obey not because the command itself is difficult, but simply because our hearts are not inclined to obedience. Our heart’s desire should willingly be submissive to God’s commands and to love Him fully.
