Kids Hope Rwanda, a local community-based organization with a vision to bring hope to the hopeless, in partnership with His Hand On Africa (HHOA), on Friday, August 6 donated foodstuffs to Nyagahinga residents in Gasabo District, as a way of reaching out to people during the Covid-19 pandemic.
This support comes after the recent 15-day lockdown that was imposed on the City of Kigali and other 8 districts, as government sought to contain surging cases of Covid-19.
The support included rice, sugar, maize flour, and soap given to needy families from Nyarucundura village in Nyagahinga cell, Rusororo sector in Gasabo district.
Sylvie Mukabarisa, a mother of four, who is one of the beneficiaries of the support, expressed gratitude,
“I have four children. It was not easy for me to provide all scholastic requirements and basic needs. The organisation has been assisting us during the pandemic,” she said.
Fatouma Nyambere, also a beneficiary of the support had words of thankfulness:
“Kids Hope Rwanda assists us a lot. They have been so supportive during the pandemic. May God bless them abundantly.”
Established in 2015, Kids Hope Rwanda focuses on supporting school-ongoing children from vulnerable families. Their charity activities are based on Isaiah 40:1.
According to Jean Marc Rwambibi, founder and chairperson of Kids Hope Rwanda, the organisation’s mission is promote children’ rights and empowering vulnerable families in Rwanda.
Rwambibi thanked local leaders and His Hand On Africa for their collaboration and partnership to achieve the organisation’s objectives.
It targets young children aged between 4 and 17 and their parents/caretakers, and works to fight the dropping-out of some children from school due to poverty or some life challenges.
Kids Hope Rwanda runs three programs such as Ejo Hanjye Sponsorship Program, Rengera Umwana Program and Terimbere.
So far, the organisation supports 60 children and their families (create income generating activities) from Gasabo District.
