“Worry doesn’t do a lot for you. A lot of talk doesn’t do a lot for you. Wake up and act. Many people are talking about how we are in the last days, but they don’t act. You think just talking about it will do a lot for you? Just wake up, repent, change your ways, pray, and above all believe that God loves you and doesn’t want you to perish.”
“This is no time for fear
This is a time for faith and determination
Don’t lose the vision here
Carried away by emotion
Hold on to all that you hide in your heart
There is one thing that has always been true
It holds the world together
God is in control”
Those are lyrics of a song called “God is in control” by American singer Twila Paris.
These words come to me when I think about the times we are in. I can guess you have heard the narrative that surrounds these times. I might be right if I say that most of us have recently heard someone say: “These are the end times. ”
The coronavirus that has infected about 400, 000 people globally and killed several thousands has been a loud wake up call to the world. It is telling us that Jesus is coming back, because we have read in Matthew that pestilences (diseases) and suffering will come on the earth as a sign of the coming of The Lord.
Many people, perhaps even non-believers in Jesus the Messiah can sense that these are peculiar days. Yesterday, I called my father. He lives in an outside country. I wanted to talk to him in these times. When we were talking, the coronavirus subject was dominant in our conversation, of course as it is in many other conversations.
I told him that in Rwanda, we are now in kind of a curfew. I told him that here, it is strongly not advisable to leave one’s home, as the government is trying to fight the spread of the virus.
He told me about the situation in the country where he lives. And then I asked him,
“Have you ever seen such a situation in your life time? ”
And he replied, “No. ”
Dad is about 62 years old, but he confesses he has not seen this before.
I told him, “We are in the end times. ” I advised him to pray. I really believe is time to be close to God and to be sure we are in His Way, before He appears.
Later, when I was talking to a friend, I told her about my conversation with dad. She said to me
“…… don’t scare dad. ” (perhaps jokingly).
I replied, “I rather scare him than Jesus to come and not find him ready.”
The word now I use is that we are in “record breaking days.”
The coming of false messiahs, an increase in warfare, and increases in famines, plagues, and natural disasters—these are signs of the end times. Matthew 24:5-8
But how are we supposed to behave in such times?
Luke 21:28 says:
“When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
See how it should be done? Not worrying, but. lifting up your head because our redemption is near. Not fearing, but doing the right thing. If you have to repent and change your style of life from sin to The Fear of The Lord, then just do that. Worry doesn’t do a lot for you. A lot of talk doesn’t do a lot for you. Wake up and act. Many people are talking a bout how we are in the last days, but they don’t act. You think just talking about it will do a lot for you? Just wake up, repent, change your ways, pray, and above all believe that God loves you and doesn’t want you to perish.
God bless you.
