Desire Mubogora and Yayeri Niyiteka are among the six contestants of “I am the future” competition qualified to go through to the grand finale slated for December 29 at Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village.
Desire Mubogora is a member of True Promises Ministries while Yayeli Niyitegeka is of Kingdom of God Ministries.
The finalists were revealed during the third eviction held on Saturday at Hotel de Milles, Kiyovu from 6:00 pm.
The battle session of the night was attended by 12 contestants among whom six were selected. It was also graced by popular artistes including Israel Mbonyicyambu, Mani Martin and Serge Iyamuremye.
The six finalists are Desire Mubogora, Yayeli Niyitegeka, Lionel Mugisha, Janviere Uwamahoro, Lillianne Umwiza and M.France Gusenga.
The overall winner will walk away with a cash prize of Rwf 15 million while the first runner-up will pocket Rwf 7 million in addition to a two-year recording contract for the two winners at Future Records.
Themed ‘My Talent, My Opportunity’, the competition is co-organised by Future Records and Miracle Transporters, with the aim of detecting and promoting new music talents from across the country.
Since 3rd December, the contestants have been gathering at Excella School, Kimironko, for a month-long boot camp. They have been attending eviction sessions during the weekends before panel of judges made up of Gospel musician Tonzi, Producer Nikola Mucyo and Kenyan and former Tusker Project Fame judge, Ian Mbugua.
Yayeli Niyitegeka, a student at University of Kigali, is grateful to reach the final of the competition.
“None of the competitors is easy. The battle is not easy too. I am happy for the chance to continue. Apart from the awards, the competition equips us with experience. I have learnt a lot through trainings in the camp,” Niyitegeka said.
Desire Mubogora, a graduate of Nyundo School of Music and Arts, expects a charming performance during the final battle.
“I will use my potential. I am not fear of anyone among the competitors but I have been performing to convince the judges,”he said
For Lionel Mugisha, a year four student at Nyundo School of Arts and Music, the lessons acquired during the previous sessions will help him to stage an improved performance.
